Publisher's Summary

After Constable Nick of Aidensfield's retirement, he helped create a small private police force of monk-constables serving Maddleskirk Abbey and its adjoining college. The body of an unknown man is discovered in the crypt and Nick and DCS “Nabber” Napier welcome the assistance of the monkstables, as they have become known, as their knowledge proves invaluable.
As the investigation hots up, a prominent pupil of the college goes missing and the monkstables find themselves pitched into an intense investigation as they search for the missing boy. With help from retired Sgt Oscar Blaketon and ex-PC Alf Ventress, and some input from Claude Jeremiah Greengrass, Nick's experience is put to the test.

The story of how a retired police inspector trains some monks to be policeman sounded interesting. Then a man is found dead in a crypt, a young student goes missing and there us a very dodgy archaeologist. Unfortunately I found the story laboured somewhat and some of the dialogue is quite amateurish. The author repeats himself time after time. I did manage to listen to the end but I was glad when it finished. Sorry Mr Rhea
