Summary

When Peyton and Marco are pulled off the most significant case of their careers, they struggle to find their equilibrium. Marco's growing distance brings out Peyton's worst insecurities, and while everyone around her seems to be moving forward in their lives, she feels stuck.

Assigned to investigate the murder of a reality star's boyfriend, Peyton questions whether her absolute dedication to her job is worth it. Then again, when she looks into the future, she doesn't see much more - except long nights filled with loneliness.

Absolutely Fantastic!

First of all, if this your first Peyton Brooks' book, can I please suggest starting from the beginning of the series? It will be absolutely worth it!

Things have not been quite right between Peyton and Marco since the shooting on Alcatraz. In this book, solving the homicide in Chinatown seems to challenge their relationship further. Mistakes are made and feelings are hurt but maybe all that is necessary for the two to resolve their issues. Meanwhile Jake has to face the loss of his wife again as her murder comes to trial. But whatever happens, the characters always come together to support each other and solve the mysteries surrounding their cases. As for the "Clean Up Crew" case things may or may not be escalating. I just hope the team find the Janitor before he or she strikes again!

As usual ML Hamilton has managed to capture and retain the attention of her audience. She makes it so easy to commit to the characters and the series and Kelley Hazen's narration just adds to that allure. Her performance is consistent and reliable, not just through the book but through the entire series. Frankly the combination is like a siren call to dive right into the story and I absolutely cannot wait to find out what happens next!
