I do have one big reservation with A.J.Raffles

Whilst I did enjoy this series I do have one big reservation with it; A.J.Raffles is an anti-hero. To enjoy a story I like to warm/ sympathise with the main character though this is quite hard. For example in ‘No Sinecure’ he knocks out a policeman at a museum, but the main contentious storyline is when Bunny is strangling a boy at a school, named Beefy, then Raffles comes to his aid and chloroforms the child. Yes a child. [‘The Raffles Relics’]

There’s a lot to like, great cast of actors and production, but I question the morality of having an anti-hero as the leading man.

Contains six episodes (first broadcast during 1992), plus an adaptation of Graham Greene’s play ‘The Return of Raffles’ (1 hour, 1993)
