Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

Now a Sky Original film starring Outlander's Sam Heughan, Ruby Rose and Andy Serkis.

The Channel Tunnel. Your worst fears are about to come true....

Deep beneath the English Channel, a small army of vicious terrorists has seized control of the Eurostar to Paris, taken 400 hostages at gunpoint - and declared war on a government that has more than its own fair share of secrets to keep.

One man stands in their way. An off-duty SAS soldier is hiding somewhere inside the train. Alone and injured, he's the only chance the passengers and crew have of getting out alive. Meet Andy McNab's explosive new creation, Sergeant Tom Buckingham, as he unleashes a whirlwind of intrigue and retribution in his attempt to stop the terrorists and save everyone on board - including Delphine, the beautiful woman he loves.

Hurtling us at breakneck speed between the Regiment's crack assault teams, Whitehall's corridors of power and the heart of the Eurotunnel action, Red Notice is McNab at his devastatingly authentic, pulse pounding best.

"One of the great all-action characters of recent times. Like his creator, the ex-SAS soldier turned uber agent is unstoppable." (Daily Mirror)

"Authentic to the core." (Daily Express)

good listen ? not value for money

was ok but the intricacies of the channel tunnel took more patience than I had having to rewind 6 or 7 times

Not the best of Andy's books

After reading may of the Stone books I’ve been disappointed with many of the other titles Andy has written and this book is no exception. The narration is good but this story lacks characterisation and the action lacks credibility, excitement and suspense. Just about worth sticking with it until the end but no real twists or turns.

Great Book

Another fast paced and quick witted book from Andy McNab. As usual the reader is left on the edge of their seats from one end of the book to the other. Would recommend this book to others.

Quite a reasonable yarn

I am not normally into army type books, but my husband is... so if he's read or listened to a book he nags me.... or bores me to tears, telling me all about it. This time I got in first! Yes I did quite enjoy it, after the first really nasty bit ( I am a bit squeamish and anti war atrosities explicitly explained, sort of person), once the story got going proper, I did quite enjoy it. In fact I quite like Andy McNab's books, they are cetainly action packed. I would give his other books a go, so it can't have been too bad.

An Average But Enjoyable Andy McNab

I've read the majority of the Nick Stone series and I have to admit that "Red Notice" isn't quite up there with them but it's not too far away. The initial pace is a bit slow - the main story centres around an incident in the channel tunnel and it takes a few hours to get there. If you've read Andy McNab's work before you'll be familiar with the usual SAS build up, their base in Hereford, the bond between the soldiers etc. The characters in "Red Notice" aren't quite as strong as those in the Nick Stone series. The war criminal head of the terrorists is a bit too comic book at times and the romantic interest between the lead character Tom Buckingham and his partner Delphine is a bit melodramatic. However, these are minor gripes and they don't detract from an enjoyable read. Narration is top notch from Colin Buchannan. It's not in the same league as the mainly 5 star Nick Stone series but still worthwhile for me with a decent four stars.

Red Notice: Andy McNab

An action packed adventure from former SAS sergeant Andy McNab's new hero Sergeant Tom Buckingham. Gorgeous French girl Delphine provides the love interest, but this is no chick-lit story. It's a roller-coaster of a tale as a small army of terrorists hi-jack a Euro star train to Paris and its 400 passengers. Only Sergeant Tom stands between the hostages and a bloody massacre until help eventually turns up.
