Summary

Five days ago a rash of bizarre murders swept the country. Senseless. Brutal. Seemingly unconnected....
A cop walked into a nursing home and unloaded his weapons on elderly and staff alike. A mass of school shootings. Prison riots of unprecedented brutality. Mind-boggling acts of violence in every state.
Four Days Ago the murders increased ten-fold....
Three days ago the President addressed the nation and begged for calm and peace....
Two days ago the killers began to mobilize....
Yesterday all the power went out....
Tonight they’re reading the names of those to be killed on the Emergency Broadcast System. You are listening over the battery-powered radio on your kitchen table, and they’ve just read yours. Your name is Jack Colclough. You have a wife, a daughter, and a young son. You live in Albuquerque, New Mexico. People are coming to your house to kill you and your family. You don’t know why, but you don’t have time to think about that any more. You only have time to run!

Been done before.

Would you try another book written by Blake Crouch or narrated by Phil Gigante?

I have and they have been better.

What could Blake Crouch have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

This was well written but nothing new.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

The female voices were a bit annoying.

Was Run worth the listening time?

I never got to finish it so in my case no.

Any additional comments?

A familiar storyline with nothing to make it stand out.

WE BETTER RUN

BEETS, THE HAVE NOT EATEN IN A WEEK, STARVING TO DEATH FOOD.
An action packed thrill ride, a mystery, and very entertaining. It is kind of a Zombie book without the Zombies. After seeing some lights in the sky (Day of the Triffids) most of the population become murdering monsters. They don't become dumb easy to out run, falling apart zombies, they still have their brains, they just want to kill anyone who has not seen the light.

JUST DO WHAT I BLANKING TELL YOU
It is also about a family that was dysfunctional, that comes together in tragedy. Those reviewers who concentrated on the gore, seemed to ignored this large part of the book. Is there a lot of gore, well yea!!, it is a horror book, not a romance. I did get tired of the kids always asking why, in the middle of a crisis, but that is how we raise them these days. Finally toward the end of the story the dad, tells them " Just do what I F tell you." When I was a kid my dad said to do it because he said so and he was the boss. We learned early in life not to question dad. This is a good entertaining book and well written.

Surprisingly good

I've always considered Crouch a good storyteller/writer, but a mid-grade writer. On the same level as Konrath/Kilborn and Jeremy Bishop etc. Not bad, but not an author that's an instant buy either. If he keeps writing books like "Run", Crouch will be an instant buy author for me.

It's about a man who has to keep his family safe in a world that's turned impossibly dangerous. It's about a family on the run from everyone.

The explanation for what is going on isn't fleshed out much. But it's not important. It's about the run. And about the family.

The narrator Phil Gigante did a great job. I've heard him a few times before, I think he did Shadowland by Straub. Solid performance as always.
