Summary
It was a vicious, calculated murder. The killer selected his victim at Euston station, followed her home on the tube, and strangled her to death in front of her child. At the same time, killed in the same way, a second body is discovered at the back of King's Cross station. It is a grisly coincidence that eerily echoes the murder of two other women, stabbed to death months before on the same day...
DI Tom Thorne who sees the link and comes to the horrifying conclusion: this is not a serial killer the police are up against - there are two of them. Finding the body used to be the worst part of the job. Not any more. Now each time a body is found, Thorne must live with the knowledge that somewhere out there is a second victim, waiting to be discovered. Great story
Like the previous book in the series it was a bit disjointed in places. I don't normally buy abridged books and this is why.
Story and performance wise this was great. Good story and believable characters.

Cat Scratch Fever
Having enjoyed 'Sleepy Head' (the first title in Mark Billingham's Tom Thorne series) I got 'Scaredy Cat' straight away. Whereas the first novel becomes compelling after a while this book had me completely hooked from the start. Scaredy Cat delves far more into the psyche of the killer and Billingham ekes out the story for each major character until they collide in the horrifying ending. I'm off to get the third in the series now!

not bad
not as good as first book, always throws you when they change narrator. However, what was that twangy music all about? unnecessary.

Excellent narration
Robert Glenister is a great narrator and I could listen to him all day. I enjoyed this audiobook, I don’t often listen to abridged books and think I will stick to the unabridged versions as I found this to be a little disjointed. Overall I would recommend it, I couldn’t stop listening and enjoyed the characters. I’m looking forward to the next book.

Another superb offering
Mark Billingham does it again with this, the second in the Tom Thorne series. The plot was engaging and drew me in just like his first novel, Sleephead. I enjoyed the introduction of the characters and the start of the book certainly had an impact. The plot twisted and turned without being obvious in doing so, a feat many other authours should aspire to.
The narration was smooth and crisp, perfect in pitch, tone and delivery pace. Robert Glenister delivers a good array of clear characters and makes it east to differentiate between them.
I am downloading the next novel and can hardly wait to see what befalls Thorne and Holland next.

confusing
narration was poor, story line reasonable, very confusing not enough difference in speech inflection to say who was whom. Not his best work.

I could listen to Robert read the telephone book
Not a bad story, although as usual with the Thorn series some untangling of who is actually present in the moment is necessary, Glensiter’s skill with accents and voices helps a lot here though
