Summary

The past never stays buried for long....

Detective Chief Inspector Ryan believes he has put his turbulent history behind him. Then, in the early hours of the summer solstice, the skeleton of a young woman is found inside the Roman Wall at Sycamore Gap. She has lain undiscovered for 10 years, and it is Ryan's job to piece together her past.

Enquiry lines cross and merge as Ryan is forced to face his own demons and enter into a deadly game of cat and mouse with a killer who seems unstoppable. Murder and mystery are peppered with a sprinkling of romance and humour in this fast-paced crime whodunnit set amidst the spectacular scenery of Hadrian's Wall country in Northumberland.

Hooked again!

Another strong story and even better written than Holy Island. As a Geordie I enjoy the local setting. Inconclusive but not frustrating - just want to read the next book!

Thrilling

Excellent listen. I listen to audiobooks on my way to and from work, and this kept me in full suspense. The past hour or so I listened to non-stop. Well read and at a good pace. Looking forward to the next one

Great follow up to a great series debut

This series goes from strength to strength! After a brilliant debut, DCI Ryan is back with a case full of twists and turns that pulls at his heart and soul. I won’t spoil the end (or the epilogue, can’t forget that), but I will say that I can’t wait to see where the series will go next!
