Summary

In the time it takes for a villain to breathe his last, Anne and her mother, Dauphine, suddenly inherit Belrose Abbey -- a gothic castle set on a monstrous estate, complete with devious servants, mysterious forests, and the darkest of secrets. The more they settle into their new home, the more unsettling the house becomes. What do all the unmarked graves mean? Where are all the people who had arrived on the estate but then vanished? And could there really be an abandoned insane asylum on the property? Although Anne and Dauphine are determined to purge all the horrors from Belrose Abbey, this new mystery could very well be their undoing.

Mysterious and entertaining

I enjoyed this book more than the first one in the series. The Abbey is proving to be a lot more mysterious and dark than expected. It has a lot of secrets to be unveiled. There is plenty if drama and danger as the secrets are unveiled. A good listen and nicely narrated.

Really enjoyable - narration was brilliant

I am not the target audience for this series but I did enjoy it and got into the story again. Of course the narration really suited it.

I can really see teenage girls really liking this series.

I was given a free copy by the narrator but the review is entirely my own.

Belrose Abbey mysteries are unveiled

In this conclusion to the Belrose Abbey story, the secret past is discovered. Nice and clear narration. Recommended reading after Ruby Locket.

Bloodstone Viral

The second part of Dauphine and her daughter Anna's experiences at Melrose Abbey. Another exciting episode in the story, told by Anna and Dauphine, after her mother has inherited the Abbey there is a lot of work to do and their unsettled servants are not to be trusted to tell the truth, Strange events and the discovery of a hidden graveyard lead the 2 to a very disturbing discovery of things that happened in the recent past on the estate which are finally resolved at the end of the book. I'm disappointed to discover this is the last in the series as I thought there was plenty of room for a third book. Michelle Babb's great narration enhances what is a very good story as usual.

A great addition to the series!

I enjoyed the second book in this series almost as much as I enjoyed the first one. Both books remind me of an Elizabeth Peters/Barbara Michaels gothic story, which is a good thing! The narrator did an excellent job and I really enjoyed seeing how the romance subplot progressed. A great cozy read.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

its not over yet, the spooks goes on

I enjoyed this book. It continues right from where the last book left off. So I would recommend you start with book one because it does refer to it a few times and I think it help make this more spooky knowing what went on in the first book. The spooky factor goes up a notch in this book and you are never sure what it going on or who to trust. I like the fact that the characters have grown from the last book and have become braver, mainly the mum is more willing to investigate. Over all it is a good series and I would try another book by this author when I need a change from cozy mysteries.
Spooky going ons are still happening in Belrose Abbey despite the death of it murderous owner. Anne stumbles over unmarked grave in a clearing. Who do they belong to and why were they included in the family grave site? Someone is camping on the ground in an abounded shed and is he the one trying to break into the Abbey? The owner wasn't big on keeping paper work and with the office in a shambles it is impossible to find out what or who is meant to be on the estate. The staff aren't helping by refusing to answer questions. Why wont they talk is it because the walls really have ears and is Anne imagining the eye in the portraits that seem to follow them? there is also the added problem of the wild dog running around is it ready to attack at any moment? The question is who to trust to find out what is going on.
Once again the narrator puts in a brilliant performance that is guaranteed to add to the spookiness and fun of the book.

Even better than the first book.

After listening to the first book I dived straight into this, the first book layed down the groundwork introducing the characters and setting, now we are getting right into the mysteries and history of Belrose Abbey. Darker and grittier than the previous book with much more action and suspense, this is an addictive rabbit hole and I can't wait for the next part.
