Summary
In the corridors of Chicago's top law firm: 26-year-old Adam Hall stands on the brink of a brilliant legal career. Now he is risking it all for a death-row killer and an impossible case. Maximum Security Unit, Mississippi State Prison: Sam Cayhall is a former Klansman and unrepentant racist now facing the death penalty for a fatal bombing in 1967. He has run out of chances - except for one: the young, liberal Chicago lawyer who just happens to be his grandson. While the executioners prepare the gas chamber, while the protesters gather and the TV cameras wait, Adam has only days, hours, minutes to save his client. For between the two men is a chasm of shame, family lies, and secrets - including the one secret that could save Sam Cayhall's life...or cost Adam his.
Critic reviews
"His stories are ferociously plot-driven: they will keep you awake all night" ( Independent on Sunday)
"Compelling... after 50 pages I could barely wait to turn the rest over... Grisham knows how to tell a story" ( Sunday Times)

Another John Grisham Triumph!
For heaven’s sake, if this is your genre, snap it up and you won’t be disappointed. Perfectly researched and totally spellbinding, you won’t want to put this down.
Excellent narration, too.

My least favourite JG
It started off well but turned into unnecessary meandering story telling. No real plot and a pointless ending. As always it was JG so OK but no cigar.

Fantastic novel
I have no idea how this one slipped through my Grisham radar as a multi decade fan. I haven't seen the film nor read the book. This book takes the most unsympathetic death row killer, a neo nazi accused of the bombing murder of two five year old Jewish twins at their father's law office, and makes the reader confront their own preconceived notions of the killer and the justice system/death penalty. The book is really a terrific layered character study and as regards the actual writing I think it is Grisham's finest and I say that as a huge Grisham fan. I only have one gripe and that's the character of Andy should have been female as the book is too male slanted and it would have been good to see a different POV. I have to say the narrator was absolutely excellent - a very convincing range and great nuance.

Majestic
I really enjoy John Grisham books a fellow reader put him onto me and I've been hooked ever since however a strange thing happened to me with this particular book I began reading it but found myself struggling with it I was fuming with myself what's wrong I said and I couldn't find the answer
However I decided to get it in audible I knew I would listen to it going to and returning from work I did exactly hat and found as I progressed throughout that I wanted to listen to more so in the evening I would listen for an hour or more getting more into the story I won't give the story away all I will say is I found Sam to be a brilliant character and the narrator captured him perfectly it turns out to be another masterpiece how I get sucked into John Grisham stories in this the characters a different in all sorts of ways he has a way of getting a story and putting various characters in the spot in so glad I listened to it I would have been disappointed with myself if I decided to leave and let it go as they title says majestic !!!!!

Garden Gate Story
A non-engaging, long winded garden gate story... this book is not one of John Grishams' finest.
