Starts well but runs out of steam!

Is there anything you would change about this book?

A character who appears as a key to the subplot that is important to the story, does not get enough mileage and seems to "just go away"

Couldn't stop listening. One of the best Grishams I have heard. I was enthralled from the first chapter until the very end.
