Summary
The third audiobook in Robert Kirkman's New York Times best-selling series, The Walking Dead: The Fall of the Governor!
The Walking Dead original novel series, set in the universe of Robert Kirkman's iconic universe, continues with The Fall of the Governor. From co-authors Kirkman, creator of the Eisner Award-winning comic book and executive producer of AMC's blockbuster TV series, and Jay Bonansinga, Stoker Award-finalist and internationally acclaimed author, comes the gripping third novel in this richly woven, literary saga, which began with The Walking Dead: Rise of the Governor.
In Rise of the Governor, uber-villain Philip Blake journeyed from his humble beginnings directly into the dark heart of the zombie apocalypse, and became the self-proclaimed leader of a small town called Woodbury. In The Road to Woodbury, an innocent traveler named Lilly Caul wound up in the terrifying thrall of Phillip Blake's twisted, violent dictatorship within Woodbury's ever tightening barricades.
And now, in The Fall of the Governor, the Governor's complex story continues in a tour de force of action and horror. Iconic characters from the comic book, including Rick, Michonne and Glenn, finally make their entrance onto this nightmarish stage, and fans of The Walking Dead will see these characters in a whole new light.

Another brilliant instalment to keep me going on between series. I think I'm gonna move onto the comics next.

The fall of the Governor
Really enjoyed this. I'm a big fan of Kirkman and have been reading The Walking Dead comics for quite some time. That said I was really excited when I discovered that a set of novels had been written about the series most loved/hated bad guy, the Governor.
The Fall of the Governor covers the events from the comics but from the perspective of the residents of Woodbury rather than Rick and his group. It was really interesting to get a peek into the thoughts of the Governor.
I'm looking forward to finding out what happens next as told from the people outside the prison!

Long time in the coming but worth the wait.
I counted down the days until this little baby was released on audio book, and I wasn't disappointed.
Very brutal, but totalling compelling.

Brilliant addition to TWD series.
It’s really intriguing to hear the sub-story of how the governor came to be. Brilliant listen.

Better to read it. Probably.
Hmmm. I can't decide whether or not this is badly written or badly narrated. I've actually read this novel before, had forgotten all about it. Hearing it this time around, there are genuinely times where I found myself muttering in disapproval. One chapter has a character repeatedly cursing the same line over and over and I had enough. It even at times makes sympathetic characters seem annoying and obtuse. So I guess it's probably the former who cops the blame. That said, the narrators choice to voice each individual character is a poor one, particularly female parts.
I've starting listening to books to suit my lifestyle but honestly, this really does grate your nerves at times. It does clear up something from the comics I was confused about, and when no one is talking it's enjoyable enough, but overall I would give it a pass.
