Summary

Thanks to the mindless actions of Teddy Deakin, a group of mismatched rail passengers find themselves stranded in a dark and isolated station, having missed the last connection of the night. Tales of superstition prevail as the local station master - unable to persuade them to leave - reveals that very night, 20 years ago, a train crashed leaving a number of passengers dead. Legend has it, that the station is still haunted as the train relives its final moments as it roars through the station to its demise. The passengers begin to panic as the body of the station master is found on the platform, and a mysterious young lady arrives, foretelling the oncoming of the Ghost Train…

Good stuff.

As good a version of the Ghost Train as you'll hear. No Arthur Askey though!

A great story, though this recording has its flaws

Originally written as a stage play, and a great story it is, though it doesn’t appear enough thought was made when recording it as an audio play - if any changes were made at all. For example:

Occasionally it was difficult to distinguish between some characters as they sounded the same - not enough vocal differentiation

Towards the end a budgie is mentioned; only during the second time of listening did I pick up the briefest of mentions that Miss Bourne had with her a pet bird. It’s fine if watching it as a stage play as you can see it, but in audio you need to be told

And lastly the actor who voiced Peggy Murdock was very flat - lacked charisma

With some small changes and a different cast it could be truly wonderful audio play, but as it stands it is only a 3*.

Loved it.

Wish there was more full cast ghostly plays on Audible ,I am a big fan of full cast stories as they take you right there...close your eyes and your part of the story

The old classic

All though it's dated it's still a good little story to listen to. especially on a winter night with candle lights and a drink of your choice. make mine a Bloody Mary old man .. that said it's not as good as it could have been. ie a lack of sound effects and a couple of the actor's were a little hammy but still worth a listen

The Ghost Train

This is an excellent comedy written by Arnold Ridley of Dad's Army fame. The story line is a little dated but the excellent cast bring it to life as though it has just been written. If you like vintage comedy this is well worth listening to.

Overall very enjoyable

I found this play excellent despite some bad reviews. I do think I've heard it before, many years ago, so maybe not this version. I thought the characters were engaging and amusing. Personally wasn't keen on the ending but thoroughly enjoyed it.

Awful Acting

The Actors were terrible. Love this play usually but this version is very amateurish. Can't listen to any more. Will cancel and get my credit it back
