Publisher's Summary

Thomas Chaloner is relieved to be summoned back to London. He will be glad to be home, to be reunited with his new wife, but the trivial reason for his recall exasperates him - the theft of material from the construction site of his master, the Earl of Clarendon's embarrassingly sumptuous new house just north of Piccadilly.

Most Helpful

Plodding storyline, weak characterisation ...

What disappointed you about The Piccadilly Plot?

... and also very poor dialogue.

What could Susanna Gregory have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Gregory's palette of story, characters and countdown to a catastrophic event are a promising mix. Unfortunately very weakly executed.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Gordon Griffin?

Possibly.

What character would you cut from The Piccadilly Plot?

About half of them - would keep whole thing tighter.

Great story as well as historically accurate

What did you like most about The Piccadilly Plot?

The twists and turns that lead the listener/reader further in without revealing how the story will end.

What other book might you compare The Piccadilly Plot to, and why?

The Brother Michael/Matthew Bartholomew stories by the same author. And possibly the CJ Sansom books though there is more humour in Susannah Gregory's books

What about Gordon Griffin’s performance did you like?

He captures the tone the books are written in and is able to express the subtle humour of the writer.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

It isn't really that kind of book

Any additional comments?

These books are a great listen if well read and this one is well read.
