Summary

London during the long, dark days of the Blitz: a city outwardly in ruins, weakened by exhaustion and rationing - and DCI Edward Greenaway keeps a careful eye on everyone.
Out on the streets, something nastier is stirring: London's prostitutes are being murdered, their bodies left mutilated to taunt the police. As he follows a bloody trail through backstreets, Greenaway must use all his skill to stop the slaughter.

Critic reviews

"The First Lady of noir writing." (David Peace)
"Brilliant and brave, Without the Moon blends murder and magic to create a vision of London as a spiritual maze...an atmosphere that is so charged it can almost be touched. The best work yet from a genuine, original talent." (John King)

Evocative Blitz Thriller

Cathi Unsworth weaves her well written story around actual killings that took place in London during early WW2. Unsworth is a well-regarded historian who specialises in the local history of the Soho area, and in this book she uses her extensive knowledge to create a true-crime novel that engages throughout. The narration is fantastic as well.
