Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

The 24th novel in the best-selling Alex Cross series.

A killer with a twisted sense of justice has Washington DC under siege. Only Alex Cross can bring them down.

When a police officer is killed, Detective Alex Cross steps up to take command of his force who are scrambling for answers. As a brutal crime wave sweeps the region, an intriguing connection links these deadly scenes.

The victims are all criminals.

The murderer has appointed themselves as judge, jury and executioner, and it's up to Alex to take the law back into his hands before the city descends into chaos.

Critic reviews

"No one gets this big without amazing natural storytelling talent - which is what Jim has, in spades. The Alex Cross series proves it." (Lee Child, international best-selling author of the Jack Reacher series)

It's OK

Not bad. A good story, but I'm sure many teenagers are more skilled with prose than Patterson.
I'd read another of his.

Enjoyable...

My first Patterson listen, and I wasn't disappointed. I thought it was a solid story, well narrated and kept flowing.
Will happily listen to more Patterson...

Cross justice

I quite enjoyed this although I jumped a few times (as you are happily listening and all of a sudden you got very loud sound effects like car chases or gun fire and sometimes the effects made it hard to hear the narration). It was nice having two different voices one for Alex and co and then it would change to give you the baddies point of view in the other voice, so no confusion as to who point of view it was.

It did get a bit confusing in the story as Alex and the team are working on 3 different case, at the same time so jumped around a bit. Not one of Mr Payttterson better stories but would still listen to it again in a few months time.

very few credible twists and turns

you can see the ending plodding towards you from about halfway. nicely read but very pedestrian.

Disappointed

Thin unimaginative storyline. I felt it was written for the sake of writing it. James Patterson just going through the motions. Maybe he needed the money for a new kitchen or something. Yawn
