Richard Laymon us a MUST for horror fans!

This is a fantastic book, I have my favourites by simply the best Author sadly taken from us, Mr Richard Laymon.
The story is full of twists and turns, it's not too detailed unlike Mr Kings book's.
The story teller is great, his changing of voice so the characters came through is exquisite and I would recommend listening to this book.
Murder, Gore, Thrilling on the edge seat story telling.... 5*s from me and I'll be buying the rest if Mr Laymons books on audio, I own them all in paper form already lol

Dull as witch-water

Very little suspense. Nothing much really happens. The sex scenes out-number the scenes which invoke dread. Laymon's prose is pedestrian. Characters are poorly developed, and their minds seem to dwell on nipples and rumps (much like the author, I suspect). I see this book as Laymon attempting Stephen King's schtick and he's not totally up to it. His skills lay with dreaming up sick and twisted scenarios which keep you guessing at every turn.

The performance is pretty good, though I find some of the lines a bit over-delivered. The guy has a great voice, and I think he would be great at delivering more good-natured material.

would try a different one

I enjoy the grossness of this author usually and come out tonight(I think is was called) was tense and gripping. for some reason this one is read by a budget action movie announcer from the 80s.. it's off putting but you can kind of listen past it ish. but the story is quite dull, nothing suspenseful or scary. it's ok, I sped it up to get to the finish but it's finished and I'm still flat about it all.

Do not make this your first Lamon read.

I'm a huge fan of this fella usually, but this was sadly not my cup of tea at all. I felt it had a poor story and poor characters. It seemed a bit like he had just thought, "My readers love boobs so I will just keep mentioning them". To a point, he is correct, who doesn't love boobs? However he usually adds them to an already brilliant story and fascinating characters, here he does not, in my humble opinion. I'm not saying don't read this, I'm not the boss of you and you may enjoy it, but I am suggesting that if you haven't read any Laymon stuff before then please don't make this the first as it in no way does his writing ability justice.
