Summary
Jan Haigerer ist immer höflich, lacht viel und erfüllt stets alle Erwartungen. Bis zu dem Tag, als er einen Menschen erschießt. Auch wenn alles, insbesondere das Geständnis des Angeklagten, dagegen spricht, wollen die Geschworenen und vor allem die einflussreichen Freunde des Journalisten ihn wieder auf freien Fuß setzen. Es muss ein Irrtum vorliegen, das ist ihnen völlig klar. Während der 43-Jährige alles daran gibt, lebenslang hinter Gitter zu kommen, spinnen seine zahlreichen Freunde ein Netz aus entlastenden Beweismitteln. Haigerer bleibt keine Wahl: Er muss gestehen, warum er unbedingt ins Gefängnis möchte.
Der typische Krimi-Plot wird in diesem tragisch-komischen Roman komplett umgekrempelt: Obwohl vom ersten Moment an klar ist, wer den Mord begangen hat, bleibt der Hörer bis zur letzten Sekunde gefesselt von den Fragen, ob er seine Strafe erhalten wird - und warum er sie unbedingt will.
