Summary
For millionaire jockey Alan York, winning is a bonus. For Joe Nantwich, victory means no cushy backhanders; and for Bill Davidson, front running on strongly fancied Admiral, triumph means murder. His own.

Incredible
I have had the good fortune to have read every book Dick Francis wrote, and I can say that I have never been disappointed. So much so that over the years I have re read many of them. Dead Cert is brilliant, drawing the reader into the world of intrigue and horses, you can practically smell the blood, sweat and tears within the pages.

Great story, great story teller, but...
I love Dick Francis and Tony Britton, but some of these older audiobooks lack production quality, sound rather tinny and you can hear when different recording sessions are put together.

Stone Cold Classic
The first Dick Francis and one of his best. Manages to combine an excellent plot with credible characters whilst at the same time immersing one into the world of horse racing. This may have been written in the '60s, but isn't at all dated. Tony Britten is a superb reader and perfect for Francis, although the sound quality is not particularly good.

Dead cert to read
I like this book very much as the story moves along all the time and does not drag leaving you to wait and wait for the story to continue

Another good read
A good storyline very well read by Tony Britton. This is a Stand alone story so can be read in no particular order of the Dick Francis novels.

Brilliant
This is an excellent performance of Dick Francis's first novel, and an absolute delight - audio at its best

An old fashioned thriller
This was the first Dick Francis I had ever tried and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The story wasn't too complicated and the villain could only be I've of a handful of characters but I still listened riveted! The memory of the chapter where the hero was hiding in the forest has stayed with me for days afterwards for some reason... Sound disappeared occasionally on my recording but generally it was fine. I will definitely give Dick another try with my next credit.

Gripping yarn well narrated
Good easy listening: Mr Britten’s narration is excellent: his voice catches the different accents and emotions perfectly. This book was written in 1962, so as well as being a good story it’s an insight into another era.

Fast paced
Usual high standard from Dick Francis and very well narrated by Tony Britton - not deep and profound but a great listen.
