Summary

In his deadliest case yet, Detective Superintendent Roy Grace faces a complex kidnapping in Dead if You Don't, by award winning crime writer Peter James. Now a major ITV series, Grace, starring John Simm.

Kipp Brown, successful businessman and compulsive gambler, is on his worst run of luck yet. Taking his teenage son, Mungo, to a football match should have given him a welcome respite – if only for a few hours. But it’s at the stadium where his nightmare begins.

Within minutes of arriving at the game, Mungo suddenly disappears and Kipp receives a terrifying message: someone has his child. And, to get him back alive, Kipp will have to pay.

Roy Grace is brought in to investigate what seems to be a straightforward case of kidnapping. But, very soon, Grace finds himself entering a dark, criminal underbelly of the city, where the rules are different and nothing is what it seems . . .

Although the Roy Grace novels can be listened to in any order, Dead if You Don't is the fourteenth title in the bestselling series. Discover more of the Brighton detective’s investigations with Dead at First Sight and Find Them Dead.

Welcome back Roy Grace, I've missed you!

Having read (listened to) all other books in this series I was keen to find out how Roy's son is settling in and what's happening in the lives of the other characters I've come to know. I was looking forward to having a mental picture of all the places mentioned in and around Brighton and I was of course expecting another great detective story. Dead If You Dont delivered in all areas and I'm really grateful, yet sorry I've finished this book so I'm looking forward to the next one.

Kept me awake til the small hours!

A really gripping storyline which kept me awake late into the night. I have read several of Peter James's books and thoroughly enjoyed them all. This is the first one I have bought as an audiobook and decided to listen to it in the evenings when I had gone to bed. Big mistake! I just kept going, just another chapter, then another... several very late nights for me this week. The characters are believable and the attention to detail really makes the difference. A great read which I would definitely recommend.

Usual Class of Peter James

Not the best of the series, but still bloody good! Nice link from a character introduced in the last novel now becoming the main character and the moral issues he faces when pressured.

Brilliant

I couldn't stop listening to the audio version of this book. A very exciting fast paced story. I'm such a huge fan of this series and this latest one (book 14) hasn't disappointed at all.

Worth waiting for.

Another excellent Grace novel, lots of excitement and interesting plot twists and great narration. Pity it will be a while until the next episode. I really must spend more time in Brighton.

Once a loser always loser

Good and intriguing story with the usual all action that’s associated with Roy Grace takes.

Enjoyable twists

I did enjoy this one, however I'm used to Peter James twisting the characters personal lives in with the events. One this occasion it was more focussed around the crimes and a good read...

However you are keeping me in suspense to find out about their home lives.

I eagerly await the next one Peter.
