Summary

Demoted to the cold case squad after shooting a suspect in the line of duty, Detective Ronan O'Mara knows that his career with the Boston Police Department is hanging by a thread. His first assignment is the case of Michael Frye, a five-year-old boy who has been missing for seven years. With no new leads or witnesses to interview, Ronan has to start from scratch to solve this mystery. When he sees a handsome local psychic on television, Ronan figures he's got nothing to lose in enlisting the man's help to find Michael.

Psychic Tennyson Grimm is riding high after helping South Shore cops find a missing child. He's even being courted by the Reality Show Network about a program showcasing his abilities. He has no idea that his midday appointment with a customer, who instead turns out to be a police detective, is going to change the course of his life and his career.

With the blessing of the BPD, which badly needs an image makeover, Ronan is allowed to bring Tennyson in to assist with the Frye case. Being thrown together in front of cameras is never easy, but add in an emotional missing-person investigation, a tight-lipped spirit, and a cop who's a skeptic, and it definitely puts a strain on both men and their working relationship.

When the child's body is found, the work to identify his killer begins. As Ronan and Tennyson get closer to solving the case, the initial attraction they feel for one another explodes into a passion neither man can contain.

Will working together to bring Michael's killer to justice seal their fledgling bond, or will unexpected revelations in the case tear them apart forever?

OTT in about every regard

I think if I had been reading this rather than listening I would have dnf'd.
Ridiculous OTT villain and blatantly obvious as the bad guy.
An ex who was one moment 'the love of his life' until he found someone new in Ten, then he was an a***hole, bad in bed, mentally manipulative. Nothing we were shown reflected this turn around.
They roared, bellowed, laughed, all the bloody time and sometimes at inappropriate moments.
The idea that psychics can literally 'read your mind', I call bs.
No chemistry.
I honestly couldn't see the police agreeing to give a tv show complete access.
The narrator did a reasonable job with a poor quality and OTT book.

Fantastic listen

I’m absolutely addicted to this series in book form and listening to the audio, it gets even better. Pandora Pine writes a compelling supernatural mystery story and Michael Pauley just is Tennyson and Ronan, he gives every character an individual voice and I’m really looking forward to hearing this vast cast of characters develop.

Surprisingly Amazing Audiobook - Highly Recommend 😁

I wasn’t sure what to expect after reading the review of this audiobook, but I absolutely loved it 🥰

I loved Tennyson and Ronan - great MC’s and the research into psychic mediumship is well versed throughout this audiobook.

I especially loved the humour too, even through the darker aspects. The delicate way the author has written about the victim’s sexual abuse is also well written, but anyone who has ever suffered from abuse may find triggers in this storyline and may find in triggers PTSD - so please bear in mind before hearing this audiobook.
I can say, that it is very empathetic and well researched.

Michael Pauley/Dean excellently narrates this audiobook, and god, this man has a sexy voice 🥵

Definitely gets 5⭐️’s! 😁🥰🥰

A must listen to this fantastic new series!

Cold Case Psychic has quickly become a favourite series of mine and I'm so excited to get to listen to it on audio, especially with the very talented Michael Pauley as narrator.
Ronan O'Mara is the cop in need of help from psychic, Tennyson Grimm. Of course, he's a huge cynic and doesn't trust in Tennyson's gift. That is until his work starts to shed light on the cold case Ronan is currently working on. The two men play perfectly off of each other and create such a fun partnership, both professionally and personally. What adds to it as well is the family of friends that surrounds both men, each no longer having blood relatives around so they've created their own. It provides a brilliant support system that soon bleeds together as the men become closer. What isn't so great is the cold case that they work on together. It is hard in a couple of places as things are discovered but the two MCs lean on each other in the hopes of getting through it.
Michael Pauley does an amazing job in giving life to these characters. With there being so many included as well, there are a lot of different personalities to voice and each one stands separate I think, distinguishable between each other. Then there's the emotion that he conveys in the highs and lows as we work through the case and growing relationship between Ronan and Tennyson.
I cannot wait to hear more from this series and definitely recommend!!

Great listen.

I’ve had this recommended to me multiple times and finally but the bullet. Let me tell you I’m glad I did (although my purse may be cursing me). The storyline is fantastic, the narrating works perfectly with the story and I can’t wait to hear more from Ronan and Ten!

Fantastic!

I loved this audiobook! It's sweet, sad, funny, romantic...all the things you want in a good story. It brought tears to my eyes at some points, and made my laugh out loud at others. Tennyson Grimm has become one of my favorite characters! I loved the way he gently shared the things he saw about Ronan and what he thought of his light. I enjoyed the mystery and the investigation, but I really loved the personal connections between all the characters and the often snarky back and forth banter between them. I look forward to more in this series.

The narration is very good. All the characters were given distinguishable voices, and the accents really came through. The delivery was smooth and well-paced.

I received a complimentary copy of this audiobook and have voluntarily left this honest review.

Great narration for a really exciting story

I've seen these books come up a few times as recommended, and I was resisting starting a new, lengthy series but I'm really glad now that I gave it a go! I really loved Ronin - the grumpy Detective who gets demoted to working cold cases after his life implodes. Ronin is initially skeptical of a gorgeous psychic who helps a family find their child, but ends up working with Tenn on a cold case he needs to crack if he's going to keep his job. Tenn is a sweet, kind man and Ronin quickly falls for him.

The mystery is good, although the 'baddie' is a bit obvious it's still done well and ends up being quite horrifying in the end. The romance is complicated - it isn't all smooth sailing and is definitely a HFN ending rather then being a HEA. I assume there will be more bumps along the way before Ronin and Tenn really get together. It reminded me a bit of Cut & Run in that respect.

I absolutely loved the narration. Really bought the whole book to life and ramped the tension up! 10 stars for the narrator who really does an incredible job. There are some really awful and harrowing subjects that are covered and I was worried they might be shrugged off at the end or dealt with awkwardly. I was impressed though by the way the author dealt with that and didn't brush the after effects under the carpet.

Overall a really great start to a detective series and I'm looking forward to getting started on the next book.
