Summary

Milton Erickson gilt als Hypnotiseur ohnegleichen. Er ist vor über zwanzig Jahren gestorben, doch viele Therapeuten in aller Welt verstehen sich als seine Schüler. Sein Vorgehen hat wenig mit dem gemein, was man sich gewöhnlich unter Hypnose herstellt. Er gab selten Anweisungen, sondern er erzählte Geschichten und sprach in Bildern. Seine oft unglaublichen Erfolge verdankte er auch seiner außergewöhnlichen Fähigkeit, andere zu beobachten und sich auf sie einzustellen. Diese Beobachtungsfähigkeit hatte er sich beigebracht, als er mit 17 an Kinderlähmung erkrankte und ein Jahr lang im Bett liegen musste.
