Summary

The three Bentley children are used to fending for themselves. Their widowed mother has been forced to take a night job at Grant's clothing factory and sees them only at breakfast and on Sundays. But at nearly 18, with a job of her own, Dora is well able to look after her younger siblings.

Then one morning their mother fails to appear for breakfast. When the gatekeeper at Grant's factory tells Dora that no one by the name of Harriet Bentley has ever worked there, the children grow worried. Knowing that their mother wouldn't deliberately deceive them, they enlist the help of a neighbour, a former policeman, to help them investigate.

a lovely story

Any additional comments?

this is a gripping story of children having to deal with the disappearance of their mother and making friends with a neighbour who was injured during the first world war. he was a policeman before joining up and in trying to find the children's mother finds hope and a reason to carry on.

Diamonds in the Dust,

Another beautiful written book. And a narrator such as Annie Aldington who brings each and every character to life. Thank you.

A really heart warming tale

Great little story with some fabulous characters. I was hoping for more stories about this family but it seems not. Great story, definitely worth a read

Repetative

Repetative and to be honest predictable and a bit boring, I even skipped a couple of chapters and it was like an endurance task to finish, so I don't understand all the good reviews to be honest.
