Summary

In this classic collection of four novellas, the grand master takes you on irresistible journeys into the far reaches of horror, heartache and hope.

'Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption' is the story of two men convicted of murder - one guilty, one innocent - who form the perfect partnership as they dream up a scheme to escape from prison.

In 'Apt Pupil' a golden schoolboy entices an old man with a past to join in a dreadful union.

'The Body' sees four young boys venture into the woods and find life, death...and the end of innocence.

'The Breathing Method' is the tale of a doctor who goes to his club and discovers a woman determined to give birth - no matter what.

Well worth it

A change of pace for Stephen king but some well known stories from the big screen well written and well performed. Really enjoyed them.

Love these stories, poor sound quality though

These novella's by King are iconic, all but one have been turned into movies.
The Breathing Method is one of the most moving, yet gruesome stories I have ever read.

Absolutely brilliant

Four wonderful stories in one book that took you from one emotion to another. The narrator was brilliant and kept you riveted to what he was reading. Highly recommended!!!

Excellent collection of four short stories

An oldie but a goody. Stephen King bang on form and it shows as three of the four where made into movies that I’ve seen. Apt pupil is my favourite. Worth a credit.

An amazing trilogy of tales

From the moment the gates open to the Shawshank redemption You are grabbed , Frank Muller does a great job of narrating these tales. Having seen the films of the first three. You can see StephenKing has given an amazing blueprint to these directors I thought the film could be. his ability to describe the mundane that’s a lesser writer might feel unimportant or slow the story e.g. the striking of a match. Done by King Only builds that larger picture in your mind adding the detail that brings the picture to life. Apt pupil it’s tiny connection to the first story while not particularly important was an enjoyable touch. Then to the body a.k.a. stand by me one of my favourite childhood films. Listening on the journey to and from work I couldn’t have picked four better friends for company. A beautiful jog down memory lane. While there was nothing wrong with the breathing method It did not grab me in the way the first three had. Maybe that’s was because my introduction to the others had been movie first but it’s a fine standalone story. If there is better value for a single credit on audible I don’t know what it is?
