Summary
Martina Cole, watch out! This is a hard-hitting thriller that you won't forget in a hurry.... Bad things are going down in Soho. Someone's going to have to pay the price....
Alfie Jenkins breaks a lot of rules. When he sets up an illegal casino in Soho, there's bad will all round, and soon Alfie and those closest to him become embroiled in an all-out war with a dangerous gang.
Unfortunately this gang is a deadly enemy to have. When Alfie's teenage niece, Chloe, is kidnapped, and there are rumours she's been enslaved in a sex gang, it becomes a terrifying race against time to save her. Will Alfie be able to right wrongs, build bridges, and protect his family whatever the cost ?

Different
I loved the 1st book but this was a little far fetched for me. Full of grit and the pace was good but the story itself was not a patch on the 1st book. I do hate it when they change readers as well, was not so keen on this reader.

Truly awful.
What would have made Disobey better?
The storyline is OK but takes forever to get anywhere. It is written like a school essay where the writer is trying to reach a minimum number of words. There is so much unnecessary repetition. I have read and really enjoyed all of her other books. On this attempt, it is insulting to Martina Cole, to be compared with her.
What will your next listen be?
Apple Tree Yard
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
The narrator was ok
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Disobey?
The extremely far fetched scenes of gangsters running around London, brandishing guns, accompanied by police officers. Every story has an element of "far fetched" but this story went way beyond anything close to believable.
Any additional comments?
Such a shame. Other books were great.
