Summary

You can't choose your family. Or can you?

Meet the Bensons. A pleasant enough couple. They keep themselves to themselves. They wash their car, mow their lawn and pass the time of day with their neighbours. And they have a beautiful little girl called Daisy.

There's just one problem. Daisy doesn't belong to the Bensons. They stole her. And now they've decided that Daisy needs a little brother or sister.

DS Nathan Cody is about to face his darkest and most terrifying case yet....

Annoying ending!

I won't spoil anyone's surprise at the twist and turns of this book. But I felt the ending was shabby. Lots of unanswered questions, and a further twist that is too cruel.
I ended up hating the Author for a good few minutes! Buy for a good listen but reader beware 'I told you so'....

gripping

this book kept me gripped from start to finish. it's a bit dark in places, but relevant to the story.

Not the right narrator

Who on earth suggested this narrator for this book? It stands to reason that with the best will in the world a man cannot imitate the voices of little girls. Spoiled what is quite a good book. Totally unexpected ending.

Absolutely loved this!

Thoroughly enjoyed listening to this - although twisted, I found it really interesting and kept me guessing what was going on. Also had me thinking in a liverpudlian accent for months after, which was quite amusing.

A very good read

This was an enjoyable read. Good pace, good narration, and a good story. It does work as a stand-alone, but there are references which I didn’t get as I hadn’t read the books that came before. I would recommend to anyone who enjoys a good crime thriller. I know from the reviews that the twist at the end was a big shock to some, but to me it felt a little forced and tacked on. Didn’t take away from my enjoyment of my book as a whole however.

Gripping from start to finish

Another superbly original DSCody novel written so brilliantly by David Jackson and brought to life by Jonathan Keeble. The story line was so different and the descriptive narrative made one feel totally part of the horror. A truly digital page turner. Thank you all for your brilliance.

Love the narrator

Jonathan Keeble was an amazing narrator for this book. Amazing book, written perfectly, from all perspectives. Quite moving towards the end.
