Supernaturals are out of the closet but I have to stay hidden because of the type of magic I possess. I’m a Legacy. It sounds like the title should come with reverence, a trust fund, or at the very least a cool backstory—instead it comes with a death sentence.
I have to hide in plain sight and pretend to be just human. I’m pretty good at it. I live a simple and somewhat normal life, and I work in antique acquisitions. Everything’s going fine until a dangerous and enchanted dagger that was once in my possession is stolen. I didn’t think things could get any worse until I woke up next to a dead shifter, fae, and mage, without any memory of the past twenty-four hours. Considered guilty of murder by most of the magical community and humans, I must work with Gareth, the sexy and dangerous leader of the Supernatural Guild. If he’s as good as rumored, it’s only a matter of time until he discovers the truth about me—then being found guilty of murder is the least of my worries.

Got better with time
As I started Double-sided Magic I felt it was crowded. The author immediately goes into background story mode. She attempts to explain too much in the beginning. I prefer when an author either adds a prelogue to cover that stuff or just lets the details flow naturally into the story.
After the first few chapters the story has a better flow. Our main character is accused of murder and for some dumb reason she constantly returns to the scenes of the crime. She isn't the sharpest tool in the shed but the author attempts to make her come across as brave. I don't know why brave is always paired with reckless.
I didn't get to the point where I absolutely loved these characters. The lead is a basic female herione. Nothing really stands our about her. She has an annoying bestfriend and a tough boss that's almost like a father figure.
During the course of the book the main character has to put her wits up against a shifter detective and the magic counsel.
She finds that her secret is harder to kept as evidence piles against her and she constantly has to use her secret powers as a Legacy.
The narrator is new for me. I can't remember any stand out moments but she also didn't stink. So I'd say she did her job :-)
For the next book, I hope the bulk of the book evolves around the magic counsel and Legacy secrets.

She'll kick arse
Levy makes a fabulous lead character, she's strong, determined and not afraid to do what needs to be done, which is just as well because life has taken a turn for the bumpy! Surrounded by a great cast her adventures are intriguing and I did not want the book to end, I'll definitely be reading the next book.
Great world building, the fantasy element in this book is great, along with the 'standard' beings like vampires and shifters there's whole new types of magic users and everything is tailored to create a unique world.
The narration was spot on, the character voices are first class and the delivery made a great book even better.
I received a free copy of this book from the author and/or narrator and/or publisher and I voluntarily wrote this honest review.
