Summary

In order to stay human, Audrey has built a moat around herself; a moat of books, music, and dreams. It makes her different from the echoes: the sophisticated, emotionless machines, built to resemble and work for the humans.

Daniel is an echo - but he's not like the others. He has feelings he was never designed to have, and cannot explain. And when Audrey is placed in danger, he's determined to save her.

A modern day Pinnochio

I enjoyed this read. It's a light, action packed, often funny and probably not as far fetched as we like to think......

Slow going

Drawn out until too thin. Narrated too coldly, as if disinterested in the plot. Thanks for reading!

Matt Haig excellent as ever

I have enjoyed each and every book of Matt Haigs since I discovered his work here on audible. His books are mirrors to the soul. He has the ability to make traverse the entire range of human emotions. I would love a sequel to this book in particular.

Future thinking

What made the experience of listening to Echo Boy the most enjoyable?

Another great read by Matt Haig. This book is not normally the kind of book I would normally read. However I was intrigued, and have read other titles by the same author. I really enjoyed listening to the Eco Boy and would recommend this to anybody who likes stories set in the future.

Good but feels unfinished - more to come?

Assume that this is the first of a series of books in this setting. I enjoyed it, but too many ends are left untied.

Intelligent view of the future

Great listen while driving. Highly enjoyable! Interesting view of the future and the author has done his research.

Entertaining & good ideas about the future

Narrators terrific. Story good but for me not as brilliant as the author’s “The Humans”. I like his extrapolations of or into the future as much as I used to like Asimov’s. I disagree with the high carb food for Echos - not if they had blood & flesh & were based on humans. Good to see him talk about high fat drinks for humans. But I think when Haig is researching his physics chemistry & what-not he would benefit from researching more on biochemistry too. Anyway, good book on the whole. Entertaining.

Loved it

This is a fascinating read. Loved the characters, the narrators voices and accents were great. Matt Haig has a fantastic imagination, can’t wait to read more of his books.
