Summary

Ellie is a sweet-natured brunette, generous of heart with a sparkling smile and an accent that reveals her East End background. Bonny is beautiful and spoilt, with cascades of blond hair, the brightest pair of blue eyes and a mouth like Cupid's bow. The two girls meet in London at the end of the war when, seduced and abandoned by two American airmen, they pool their wits and resources and set off to make a living on the stage. Amidst hardship and austerity, immersed in the glamour and ruthlessness of life in variety theatre, their story is one of sacrifice, ambition, and friendship against all odds.

Disappointed

loved this book but was so disappointed with the ending. So many loose ends and things I wanted to know about. I actually looked to see if there's a sequel so my curiosity could be satisfied!

kept me interested until the end.

ellie and bonnie are the main characters in the story. we follow them from the beginning of the war until 1949. both girls are talented in their own way. elle at acting and comedy whilst bonnie is a dancer. theirs is a close friendship that gets the through a lot but it is elle who makes he biggest sacrifice at the end.
well written by lesley pearse and performed by anne dover there was always something happening to keep your attention.
