MJ Fields is one of my go to authors when I need to listen to something I know will be good. Abe is the first book in the Ties of Steel series. We do see glimpses of him in the Men of Steel books, and this gives us the chance to see him. Always knew he was a good businessman, but this Dom side of him I found to be hot and fun to listen to. I had reservations about the book, but found that Abe's character had a very warm protective side and it is something that Nikolette was drawn to. She loved his looks, but the his ferocity of owning her I think was the major draw that kept bringing her back. I found Nikki's character a little annoying. While I can understand the need to be your own woman and Abe could be stifling, common courtesy tells me to answer a message to him. On more than one occasion, she totally was blowing Abe off. A little immature, but her age definitely played into that as well as adjusting to her new lifestyle. I also love seeing the Steel men, they are always a laugh when they get together. This community that MJ Fields has created is like coming home and is a joy to listen to.
I loved James Cavenaugh's performance of Abe. His voice has the grit and warmth necessary for this character, and his narration was spot on. Lauren Sweet always gives a new adult performance great character. Her voice is a little young for me whenever I hear it, which sometimes gives me pause, more of a teen voice than a early twenties woman and for these characters, more mature choice would have been better for me.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
I have listened to the Steel Brothers Series and knew a bit about Abe from those books and was looking forward to this one. I won't give anything away but have to say that the last bit ruined the entire book for me. After listening to all the other MJ Fields books I am completely surprised at how she let this one end. So disappointed.
What about Lauren Sweet and James Cavenaugh ’s performance did you like?
I have always enjoyed Lauren Sweet and James was new and did a good job.
Any additional comments?
Due to the ending of this book I am having to give this a 2 star rating. I had intended to give a 4 star rating and then the last bit completely ruined it.

It lacked a lot and I can't begin to describe it! The author tried too hard to add the bdsm element to it
