Publisher's Summary

Midwesterner Isabella Ariel Nickerson is just 18, visiting London with her cousin June, when she is invited to what she thinks will be the most fabulous costume party. The year is 1935, and Isabella, innocent, spirited, and trusting, is about to be taken from the world she knows and subjected to the whims of a cabal of wealthy aristocrats who answer to no laws but their own. But, looking forward to her party and utterly inexperienced in life, Isabella does not know how far men will go to satisfy desire. Or how far a woman must go to redeem her soul...Instead of dancing at a masked ball, Isabella will become the sacrificial lamb in a ritual of domination and submission known only to the noblemen who call themselves the members of the Club. Robbed of her freedom, identity, and dignity, the girl known as Isabella slowly disappears. In her place, a new woman is born. She calls herself Belladonna, and she lives for one purpose - revenge. Now, after an odyssey of escape, flight, and transformation, the bejeweled and utterly mysterious Belladonna will appear in swank 1950's Manhattan to create a spectacular nightclub. Always masked, as those who tormented her were, Belladonna will captivate both imaginations and hearts. No one outside her circle of loyal retainers guesses her true aim for becoming the toast of high society: She is waiting like a deadly spider for a member of the Club to walk into her web. And when he does, her exquisite plan for vengeance can finally begin...For Adults Only: Explicit language. Must be 18 years of age to purchase.

Sex and revenge makes a heady but scary mix...

What did you like most about Belladonna?

I liked that Belladonna is in no way ashamed of wanting revenge on those who have wronged her, and intends to get it any way she can, and she only knows one way thanks to them - lust as a weapon.

What did you like best about this story?

I was completely drawn into the need to find out who her abusers had been, and how she would track them down so they could pay.

Which character – as performed by Tim Curry – was your favourite?

I liked best the enuchs story, you didnt realise at first there was a story there, or how they had come together, but it all suddenly made sense.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

This book deal with the aftermath of long years of terrible abuse after a girl is sold into sex slavery, so there is much to move you. That said it is dealt with sensitively, despite the book being about revenge.

Any additional comments?

Definately not one if you dont like sex scenes - its not littered with them though, its not thatkind of book. You arent intended to really enjoy the scenes at all, but need them to understand the protagonists need for such revenge and all consuming outrage.
