From Rugby League players trying to improve their game, to Hollywood superstars and the depressed sons of media moguls, Scientology has recruited its share of famous Australians. Less known is that Australia was the first place to ban Scientology, or that Scientology spies helped expose the Chelmsford Deep Sleep Scandal. Numerous Australians have held senior posts in the organisation, only to fall foul of the top brass and lose their families as a result. Based on years of interviews and research, Walkley Award-winning journalist Steve Cannane tells for the first time the fascinating story of Australia's vital involvement with this powerful, secretive and punitive cult.

MORE THAN JUST ANOTHER BOOK ON THIS CULT OF EVIL
Any additional comments?
I am an avid Scientology watcher & have read many books on the subject, so I was surprised to find out how much new information I did not know about this cult/crime syndicate. The research is in depth, the stories very well told by this former ABC reporter. Although it states it is about Australian Scientologists, its breadth is much wider than that.
This book covers Scientology from its inception up to the present. It gives new insights into the analyses of L Ron Hubbard and his criminal organization that has been able to dupe so many governmental agencies into granting it religious status. The analysis of Hubbard himself as the book goes on is scathing & fascinating, all of it backed up by hard facts. The man was quite simply a lunatic, it will shock you as to how crazy he really was.
It is almost unbelievable that this cult is allowed to exist, the whole basis of Scientology is to enslave & take as much money from their victims as is possible. It reads like a crime novel, but is frightening in that it is all true. I would also recommend Leah Reminis' book Troublemaker to accompany this one as it shows this cult from the other viewpoint, that of a celebrity that gets the 5 star treatment & is oblivious to the facts outlined in this book.

Well written & Compelling history of a CULT
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Absolutely!! This was much more in depth than expected and I pleasant surprise! I had no idea I was going to be inside this criminal cult from inception to present day. I've become an avid watcher of this subject and thoroughly enjoyed this after Leah Remini's account of her experience. HOW does this cult still manage to exist in modern times??
What other book might you compare Fair Game to and why?
I've only just begun reading (listening) to books regularly, so don't have much to compare it to. But it is fantastic!
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I found myself waiting for the next chapter & next piece of info. This former reporter did an amazing job with the in-depth research and inside info! Did not laugh or cry, but definitely appreciated the work put in to compile this info.
