Summary

The course of Frank Mackey's life was set by one defining moment when he was 19. The moment his girlfriend, Rosie Daly, failed to turn up for their rendezvous in Faithful Place, failed to run away with him to London as they had planned. Frank never heard from her again. Twenty years on, Frank is still in Dublin, working as an undercover cop. He's cut all ties with his dysfunctional family. Until his sister calls to say that Rosie's suitcase has been found.

Frank embarks on a journey into his past that demands he re-evaluate everything he believes to be true.

Brilliant

This book was so good I didn't want it to finish. I miss the voice of Gerry O'Brien now. He was wonderful to listen to. The story was great. I wish I could listen to it again as new.

Faithful place

A brilliant book . I absolutely lioved it . I sort of guessed the outcome but it didn't matter as I just loved listening to the witty comments and expressions which sometimes made me laugh out loud. A book full of wit, sadness and complicated family relationships . I have just downloaded another book by the same author .

Great Reader

Gerry O Brien is one of the best audio book readers, but the book didnt grab me half as much as Broken Harbour. It started well, but I found the family a bit tedious after a while, although the characters were well rounded and well written, the plot failed to surprise.

Outstanding. Faithful Place is a first class tale

...of gripping thrills, mixed emotions, horror, family complexities and murder on an epic scale. Told with sensitivity. Great narration.
Every corner sent chills through my heart and retold much of my childhood. Fair play to you for a cracking story and disturbing my sleep!

Excellent Story

This is an excellent story gripping till the end but I had to drop a star because of the bad language it's not necessary, most of the dialogue is made up of bad language and I just want to point out there are other words that can be used and would have made it more enjoyable to listen to.

Great characters beautifully read, but story dull

Great characterisation of hero's family. Very good dialogue; and beautifully read by Gerry O'Brien. Main character unconvincing and the plot was a little dull and not very gripping. I was never on edge of seat needing to know what happened next. First couple of chapters were interesting but story never really gathered pace and was disappointing.

🎧 👮‍♂️ Frank 👮‍♂️🎧

A wonderfully crafted murder mystery, set in Dublin. Seemingly effortless flow of story between past and present. Dozens of everyday, yet memorable characters.
The evolution of family dynamics and sibling/parent relationship was described flawlessly.
Gerry O'Brien was an absolute pleasure to listen to.
I want to go back to the start and listen all over again!

In decades of being an audible subscriber this stands out as one of the best

I don’t have the vocabulary to put into words how much this book affected me on different levels. It’s just one of those books where you feel that you’ve discovered a treasure.

The narration was perfect I can’t put it in any other way. I’ll be following him as well as the author.
