Summary

A Question of Trust is vintage Penny Vincenzi: rich with characters, life-changing decisions, glamour, love, desire and conflict.

London, 1950s. Tom Knelston is charismatic, working class and driven by ambition, ideals and passion. He is a man to watch. His wife, Alice, shares his vision. It seems they are the perfect match.

Then, out of the blue, Tom meets beautiful and unhappily married Diana Southcott, a fashion model. An exciting but dangerous affair is inevitable and potentially damaging to their careers. And when a child becomes ill, Tom is forced to make decisions about his principles, his reputation, his marriage and, most of all, his love for his child.

Vincenzi at her best

Sandra Duncan is one of my favourite readers, and she certainly does this book justice. Excellent story, and very up to date although it is "vintage". Characters, as usual, are well defined, and there are some interesting twists in the story. I could not wait to finish it, then to re-listen. Vincenzi really is an excellent authoress, keep them coming please.
The story is interesting about the NHS and the waiting and why private medicine is so important. Simply love this story.

Wonderful

This is Vincenzi at her best. Characters to care about and engrossing story. She weaves an interesting social history into the story. Loved this book.

Enjoyable but not my favourite

I love a decades spanning saga and this is great for that - really allows the listener to get absorbed in the story and lives of the characters.

My main issue with this one was that I didn't really like the two main characters, Tom and Diana, and from reading other reviews online this seems to be a common theme. I found myself getting a bit bored with their narratives and waiting for the more interesting side characters like Ned and Gilly to come into play.

I recently also listened to A Perfect Heritage and enjoyed that so much more - I felt far more invested in the characters.

Lovely long story, pleasure from start to finish. Cannot recommend highly enough. Sandra Duncan brings it to life with her immense talent as a narrator.

Exceptional narration!

Narrator brought the enjoyable ( though not the author's best) story to life! RIP Penny!

Wonderful

Oh my goodness, I absolutely adored this book. I have long been a fan of Penny Vincenzi and am so sad that this will be the last book of hers to enjoy. The characters are deep and evolve throughout the book, especially Tom who goes through several life changing events. I also loved the political elements to the story.
Although the book is long, it still didn’t feel long enough. The narrator is excellent too.
Definitely give this book a try, get past the first hour and you won’t be able to turn it off.

Simply wonderful

When I started this book I just could not get on with the narrator ... but as the book went on I throughly enjoyed it! The narrator did all the different characters so wonderfully well it was like listening to a whole host of people.

The story itself ..... true to PV style it was a great listen! For me this was a marathon listen and I enjoyed every minute of the book! It got to the point where my husband constantly told me to take my headphones out !! I recommend this book wholeheartedly!
