...they anchored each other, loved deeply, held on tight and never gave up.. or gave in.
It was so good to visit with Nikki and Damien again and to see what wicked challenges Fate had thrown at them this time.. and I wasn't disappointed because yup even in the almost idyllic and almost perfect world of the Starks.. trouble is never far away. What with Damien's secrecy over something mysterious and Nikki's volatile feelings over her Mother and worry about x (sorry no spoilers) Nikki has to fight Damien, fight her Mother's legacy, fight to land a big client, fight jealousy, fight to keep her control.. and fight her need to self-harm. But the one thing Nikki wasn't fighting was her undying love for, and faith in, Damien.. along with her relentless lust to have him.. anywhere anytime.
Unfortunately there was trouble in paradise for these two strong yet vulnerable characters which took its toll and was very moving.. but they eventually came through it even more deserving and determined to get their HEA's.. and they so did in this bitter-sweet book. Love was never the issue with these two unforgettable characters.. but they were their own worst enemies sometimes. Fears, hopes and dreams - love, sex and passion - pain, loss and tears - drama, angst and secrets - anger, regrets and insights - apologies, forgiveness and second chances - loyalty, trust and love - happy days, happy nights and happy ever afters. Friends, humor and happy couples were there too as foes were fought, mysteries were solved, questions were answered and loose ends were skilfully tied up. And thankfully J. Kenner isn't quite finished with Damien and Nikki yet because Hold Me should be out in May folks. Told from Nikki's POV and I thought the narrator was good.
Worth a credit? Yes abso-freaking-lutely.. and it made me want to listen to their turbulent, emotional and sexy journey all over again.. because at the end of it all they've made a formidable, loving and loyal couple.
