Summary

Carol was an avid mountain climber until an accident left her in a wheelchair. Love is the last thing on her mind, until she hires Nick to play Santa. Shocked at the sensations he elicits, she resists him and decides to date a good guy - a disabled firefighter.

Nick is drawn to Carol like a magnet to iron, and he sets out to prove that bad boys who hire themselves out can be good boys, too - especially in bed.

Carol discovers she’s not dead to passion, but when Nick’s dirty laundry is aired, she regrets choosing the naughty over the nice. Will the spirit of Christmas teach her that sometimes a huge lump of coal can turn into the brightest diamond of love?

Christmas joy!

What a perfect story for a Christmas listen! Once again Rachelle Ayala has taken a sensitive subject and given it a voice. The third of the series, Nick is hired out to play Santa, not knowing he is going to meet the love of his life...and that she is paralyzed from the waste down. Ayala has created a story around the daily challenges that a paraplegic lives through and how this particular man sees the woman and not the wheelchair. The incredible amount of research that has gone into this sheds light on the day in and day out routine of someone who cannot walk. She shows us through Carol the frustrations that come with being disabled, as well as the joy and optimism. Carol's journey of self realization that life continues on after tragedy is one we all take in some form. And don't think there aren't and bumps in the road...Nick has a few obstacles to overcome himself to find his path clear to be with Carol. From his job at Bad Boys to Hire, there are repercussions that follow him and need to be dealt with. Together their will find their way. The encouragement this story brings through Nick and Carol will warm your heart and get you into the Christmas spirit.

Chris Abell is an amazing narrator, his voice is so even and mellow. He has such a wonderful cadence, has just the right level of emotion and brings the characters in his performances to life. I always look forward to hearing him.

Christmas feel-good, redefining yourself books!

I have heard all the books in the series so far. While I enjoyed all of them, this is my favourite. There is so much going on.

Nick is hot but that isn't what is striking about him. He lacks direction in his career and makes choices that are soul crushing for him. He has a lot of growing up to do and self acceptance is an essential part of his development. That aside, he is a generous, caring person with the innate ability to see beyond the obvious.

Carol, who the reader would have encountered in a previous book in the series, is an organised and disciplined person. A freak accident while climbing has left her wheelchair bound and she is learning to cope with herself in these new circumstances. Pre-accident she would have never considered a friendship with Nick, let alone something more.

But their connection is instant and undeniable. They just have a lot of personal red tape to get through to find themselves, each other and a Christmas miracle.

Rachelle Ayala's books have a feel-good factor. She often gives her characters realistic circumstances to contend with but balances it with community, friendship and even Christian faith and ideals. This is a good Christmas story and definitely fits the season.

Chris Adell has narrated several of Rachelle Ayala's books. He gives an enjoyable performance and is a good match for Nick's bad boy character.

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.
