What happened Jilly ?

What disappointed you about Bella?

The story was tired, old, predictable and nothing close to Jilly Coopers usual standard.

What could Jilly Cooper have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Kept it as exciting and escapist like her previous books.

What didn’t you like about Ruth Urquhart’s performance?

It was truly bad. Inflections in the wrong place, slow, self-pitying from the main character who I really didn't warm to at all. Together with the bad accents and overall bad writing it was extremely disappointing. I just kept listening as I'd used a credit on it but the end couldn't come soon enough.

Any additional comments?

This was the worst audio-book I've ever chosen and I was truly surprised. I never read the reviews beforehand as I thought - Jilly Cooper - how can I go wrong after Riders, Polo etc etc. Why did she go back to the 80's and have such a weak story line - and to call one of the characters Rupert again - really! I had to check it wasn't one of her earlier works rather than a new offering. Sorely disappointed - it will be returned and I shan't take previous works for granted again.
