Publisher's Summary

Every seven years, on the seventh day of the seventh month, strange things happen. It began when three young boys - Caleb, Fox, and Gage - went on a camping trip to the Pagan Stone. And 21 years later, it will end in a showdown between evil and the boys who have become men - and the women who love them. This modern-day legend draws reporter and author Quinn Black to Hawkins Hollow with the hope of making the eerie happening the subject of her new book. It is only February, but Caleb Hawkins, descendent of the town founders, has already seen and felt the stirrings of evil. Though he can never forget the beginning of the terror in the woods 21 years ago, the signs have never been this strong before. Cal will need the help of his best friends, Fox and Gage, but surprisingly, he must rely on Quinn as well. She, too, can see the evil that the locals cannot, somehow connecting her to the town - and to Cal. As winter turns to spring, Cal and Quinn will shed their inhibitions, surrendering to a growing desire. They will form the cornerstone of a group of men and women bound by fate, passion, and the fight against what is to come from out of the darkness.

Shame about the narrator

If you know and like Nora Roberts' writing style, this is for you. It has all the usual ingredients, likeable characters, a good sense of location and the right balance between suspense and romance. It's not her best effort but a fair addition to her work. Would have rated this as a four star but dropped this down to a three as I didn't get on with the narrator. His interpretation of the female characters' voices were unconvincing and distracting - he did better with the male characters but it was an uneven read and lessened the ease and enjoyment of listening to the book. Having now heard the second audio book in the series (which uses a different narrator), it becomes even more clear that the narration for the first book was weak. A shame.

Blood Brothers

This is the first book in Nora Robert's Sign Of Seven Trilogy. Three young boys accidentally release a demon that has been trapped for centuries. Every seven years, the demon returns to wreak havoc on the town. Now grown, the three friends are determined to send the demon back where it came from. They are joined by three women who are intimately connected with the town and its history. For me, this wasn't quite in the league of the Circle Trilogy, but I think it would be almost impossible to top that. Blood Brothers is interesting, highly readable and with strong, likeable characters. Perfect for anyone who likes romance with a supernatural twist. Once you've read the first book, I guarantee you'll want to read the next two.
