Summary
For Logan Anderson, moving on from a traumatic past means moving back to his hometown of Castle Rock, Colorado, to start a personal-security business with his brothers. But it's not long before Logan runs into Grace Mason, his best friend from high school...and the woman who never answered his letters during his Army years.
Grace was pleasantly surprised to see Logan return to Castle Rock, despite their falling-out ten years ago. Everyone always assumed they would end up together, including Grace, who had eyes only for him. But as Logan eventually escaped their town, Grace got pulled further into her family's controlling grasp - and farther away from the man she loved.
Now, united by scars both visible and not, the two must fight to free Grace from the suffocating hold of her family. But the Masons won't let go easily - and they'll do whatever it takes to keep the couple apart.

Too far fetched
Story line was too far fetched and dramatic, I'm sure there are ways of depicting parental abuse in a more believable mature way. The acceptance of her fate by Grace was frustrating to say the least; the incredulity of some of the events! The inaccuracies like knowing the sex of twins at 2 and half months? Maybe technology has really come on but last I checked at week 12 they couldn't tell gender then so at 10 weeks..hmmm, editor should have checked that. I appreciate this is a work of fiction but within fiction it would be better to still respect the thought processes of the adult reader because to not do so just leaves one frustrated and irritated but then, that's just my personal opinion

The Worst book ever
Everyone's tastes are different and for that reason I avoid leaving negative reviews but on this occasion, I feel I would be complicit in a growing industry problem if I didn't leave an honest review. This book is so badly written that I'm not sure where to start. There is no writing craft whatsoever, the characters are one dimensional, the dialogue clunky and the story just ridiculous. There is no attempt at proper writing, where a writer shows rather than tells. The sex scenes are just painful.
Grace is the most spineless character who turns from her bullying parents to her best friend Felicity, who is just as good as they are at telling her what to do. There is no tension, no depth to the characters … it's like a cast of cartoon characters and flat packed cardboard cut outs.
My teenage daughter overheard some of the book and was appalled by how bad it was.
Unfortunately there is a trend for writers to churn out books very quickly in order to generate sales … with no concern about the quality or the craft of writing. This is self-publishing at its very worst and does a disservice to indie writers who care about their craft.

Mediocre
As mentioned in another review the storyline is a tad far fetched. The book was however easy to read and entertaining but dragged on a bit in places when the reader just wanted the female character to get to the point. Overall a typical alpha male romance novel similar to many in this genre.

The past catches up
I was a bit disappointed by this book. It's great if your into steamy sex scenes but I thought the dialogue was a bit laboured therefor the story appeared to be padded out . If it's your kind of genre you'll enjoy the book.

Dire.
Dreadful book, premise is so utterly unbelievable and unrealistic that it’s actually laughable. A disservice to the subject matter. Gave up after a few chapters as it was so infuriating.

Claiming Grace
Thank you Erin Bennett , a joy to listen to.
This is the first book of a series . This book has its alpha males and strong women, but the story is one that is not normally mentioned abuse. Logan and his brothers and even his father were physically abused by his mother . Grace's was emotionally abused by her parents they both lived through a lot, So though a love story, this is a story of overcoming the worst and growing.

good narrator, overall enjoyable
story 3.5 - 3.75, narrator 4.5
Overall I enjoyed this, but there was some crazy stuff I'm not totally convinced about that perhaps pushed the boundaries of fiction mixed with reality.
The author tackled a tough subject with Grace, severe emotional abuse by her parents when to the outside world she appears to have everything. I'm pretty sure she'd need a lot of counselling to heal and I was a bit surprised after everything Logan went through as a child he didnt believe in emotional abuse to start with. Saying that, Logan was a sweetie and I liked his brothers too, so I'm sure I'll download the next in the series.
I listened to the audio version and I liked the narrators expressive voice.
