Summary

Teen die agtergrond van soutmyne en granietkoppe vertel Droomdelwers die verhaal van twee klein gemeenskappe aan die Weskus - Soutmansvlei en Vlaktevlei. Hier word die lewens van armes en rykes, van wit en bruin, ten nouste verweef. Hier loop uiteenlopende karakters rond, elk met sy eie storie. Soos oom Kêppies sê: “ Hy’s soesie see, soes ’n branner. Voorlat jy hom kan vasvat, sien jy net sy skymstriep oppie sand lê.” Maar nog voordat die skuim op die sand lê, word die rustige lewensloop van “die sout van die aarde” skielik bedreig. Hulle kom te staan voor ʼn oormag. Daar is net een uitweg na vrywording vir almal: om in die verlede te delf waar die antwoord op vreemde raaisels so ver en en tog so naby lê.

Onvoorspelbaar, gesukkel om die boek neer te sit.

Droomdelwers is een van die min onvoorspelbare boeke wat steeds 'n goeie einde het. Ek was verbaas oor die uiteinde alhoewel ek sekere dele sien kom het, soos watter karakters by wie uitkom en in die laaste paar hoofstukke self uitgepluis wie is agter al die moeilikheid.

Daar is dele wat bietjie onvanpas is, daarom sou ek dit nie aanbeveel vir enige iemand onder 18 nie, ek is tans 17.

Die laaste hoofstuk gebeur alles net bietjie vinnig en ek sou eerder wou hê dit moes in 2 hoofstukke verdeel wees en bietjie meer detail gegee het.

Ek sal die boek sterk aanbeveel, ek lees nie graag nie, maar toe ons die boek voorgeskryf is by die skool het ek binne die eerste hoofstuk gesukkel om die boek neer te sit en het hom selfs huis toe geneem. Ek is tevrede met die ontknoping en julle sal baie in jul skik wees om te sien hoe Leendra se lewe en toekoms lyk aan die einde van die boek.

Wonderful experiance

What a wonderful listening experience. Elize Caywood at her absolute best, she brought every single character to life.
The book itself had goodies and baddies with love, betrayal, sorrow and joy of salt of the earth, very real people.

Teleurstellend

'n Eenvoudige boek, swak voorgelees in ’n simpel styl. Ek kan nie glo dit word as skool materiaal voorgeskryf nee.
