A most beautiful story

Would you listen to Gora again? Why?

I have already listened to it twice and will be hearing it again. It's not just a beautiful story but a most detailed sketch of Indian society that is as much relevant today as it was for the period it was written in -- the issues are just as unresolved and relevant today. It illustrates the discussions we all need to be having now most urgently for genuine social reform.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Binoy --the struggles, tensions and contradictions he experiences resonated with me -- these are the struggles and tensions many of us still experience and reading his journey would aid many of us to take the right step despite such struggles.

Have you listened to any of Samrat Chakrabarti’s other performances? How does this one compare?

I haven't but he is a great reader.

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

You can't make a film of this book -- it wouldn't do it justice I think.

Any additional comments?

I wish there were more English audiobook editions of Rabindranath Tagore's novels. I want to hear them all.
