Summary

Not a day has gone by that Ewan McTavish, the Viscount Sethwick, hasn't dreamed of the beauty he danced with two years ago. He's determined to win her heart and make her his own. Heiress Yvette Stapleton is certain of one thing: marriage is risky and, therefore, to be avoided. At first, she doesn't recognize the dangerously handsome man who rescues her from assailants on London's docks, but Lord Sethwick's passionate kisses soon have her reconsidering her cynical views on matrimony. On a mission to stop a War Office traitor, Ewan draws Yvette into deadly international intrigue. To protect her, he exploits Scottish law, declaring her his lawful wife without benefit of a ceremony. Yvette is furious upon discovering the irregular marriage is legally binding, though she never said "I do."

Enjoyable story with great variety of accents

If you could sum up Highlander's Hope in three words, what would they be?

Funny, fast-paced and full of adventure.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Ewan is the playful but imperfect hero of the story which makes him more human and lovable. Yvette had some surprising talents of her own for a young woman of that era.

Which scene did you most enjoy?

Loudest laugh out loud (there were quite a few) was when Yvette met Ewan's family, particularly the younger brother, "cheeky rogue" comes to mind.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes! I binged listened multiple chapters at a time. The narrator had a smooth and clear voice even whilst in character. The variety of accents (and there are many) from Scotland to Italy was fantastic and thoroughly entertaining, the narrator really brought the characters to life.

Any additional comments?

Changed my opinion about regency romance stories, will to listened to more.

I enjoyed this story of dreamy Scotland.
The characters were believable and real. If you want to escape for a few hour.
Then this book is for you.

Disappointing

This is the second book in the series and what a let down compared to the first book in the series. Story started off interesting and then just went downhill. After listening for so long waiting for the mystery to be resolved, was frustrating as the ending was so anticlimactic.
Narration was okay but does not compare to that of Stevie Zimmerman who narrated the first book in this series
