Summary
A Stylist must-read & a Red Magazine Best Book of 2018.
'Turning 30 is like playing musical chairs. The music stops, and everyone just marries whoever they happen to be sitting on.'
Who the f*ck is Tori Bailey?
There's no doubt that Tori is winning the game of life. She's inspired millions of women to stick two fingers up at convention with her best-selling memoir, and she has the perfect relationship to boot.
But Tori Bailey has been living a lie.
Everyone around her is getting married and having babies, but her long-term boyfriend won't even talk about getting engaged. And when her best friend Dee - her plus one, the only person who understands the madness - falls in love, suddenly Tori's in terrifying danger of being left behind.
When the world tells you to be one thing and turning 30 brings with it a loud ticking clock, it takes courage to walk your own path.
It's time for Tori to practice what she's preached, but the question is: is she brave enough?
The debut adult novel by best-selling author Holly Bourne is a blisteringly funny, honest and moving exploration of love, friendship and navigating the emotional rollercoaster of your 30s.

Excellent Narrator - not the story for me
You can’t fault Tuppence Middletown performance she is totally wonderful as Tor and does great accents and is very easy to listen to! However, the story just wasn’t for me! The character of Tor is hard to like, she is Ok, Fallible which does make her slightly better but I just didn’t get it! All throughout she was with a man that she didn’t love, that didn’t love her and she couldn’t see it- her book/career didn’t match her weak personality and it just dragged on and on and on. It’s a young woman’s book at best - as a 32 year old I just thought it a bit silly!

Can I get a like
This book failed to hold my attention. It was obvious from the outset what the state of Tor’s relationship was and only she couldn’t see it.
Despite the excellent narration from Tuppence nothing could lift this dreary reflection of the current desire to get more likes on social media and the current obsession with having the “perfect life” at least that what everyone should think from the outside
The story didn’t really go anywhere, not the story for me

Sinical,desperate female representation.
All the worst traits of self-hate presented as humour is a dish I could not eat much less laugh about it. An acid distillation of pure unhappiness that darkened my day, so I left it.

Funny, sharp and very relevant
The book really hits on the current obsession with social media and showing the 'best' side of your life. It's very funny and I think will hit a cord with women around their late 20's and early 30's, especially the scenes from the cringey weddings and baby shower. Would definitely recommend for an entertaining but thought provoking listen.

The beginning of the book is excellent.
I’m struggling to write a review for this book, the beginning was excellent and the book is so relatable it hurts sometimes. I found myself saying YES audibly when she talks about women’s expectations in society.
It is a very clever book that examines what it means to be a woman, an it’s super relatable but the storyline is tedious at times.

Lack of depth
I'm all for unlikeable protagonists, but this character lacked any redeemable or interesting qualities. Boring.

Great read for 30-somethings
Honest, funny and very close to home. Recommended for anyone who doesn't know what they're doing or as a gift for your friends who are too scared to leave their useless boyfriends.

Life dominated by likes
This book is remarkable in its portrayal of a character who’s life only counts if it gets lots of likes and comments and her picture is taken at the right angle. I found it fascinating in its shallowness and sad if people like the lead character actually exist.

I’m so glad to have listened to this! Thank you!
