Summary

Katy Carter knows she's no domestic goddess: she's scatterbrained, she needs a fire extinguisher at the ready when she's cooking and she daily falls off the diet wagon. But that doesn't stop her fantasising about a hero to call her own. And Katy thinks she's found him in fiancé James, a charming, high-flying city banker.

So why, then, does Katy find herself scribbling steamy historical romances every spare moment she gets and daydreaming about becoming a published author when she ought to be paying attention in staff meetings?

As her wedding day looms, Katy determines to become a wife James can be proud of and employs the help of her best friend, Oliver, to impress James' colleagues and family. But despite best laid plans, the pair set off a hilarious train of events that leads Katy on a crazy journey through celebrity, chaos and makeovers and, finally, into the arms of her hero.

Loved it

Loved the book but, why is there a brunette girl in the cover?
Fun and cute reading.

excellent story, lots going on and fast paced.

Excellent story, lots going on and fast paced with enough to keep you interested all the way through.

The performance from the narrator was very good, very theatrical and acted well. I've heard a few of her books and they're always very good.

Definately a book for my generation with references like Zippy, Jordan, posh and becks which helped me relate to this book even more.

The only pull down I would say about this story is the continual reinforcement of an outdated stereotype that red/ginger hair is unattractive. It's been my experience that red/ginger hair is very desirable and sought after. The constant degradation of being "ginger" is outdated and frankly insulting, I just hope impressionable red/ginger/auburn haired people don't hear this in the story and think themselves unattractive or less desirable because of it.

Very entertaining

I really enjoyed this book, I listened to it on the beach whilst on holiday and it really kept me entertained! I loved the heroine, very very likeable character. I LOL’d many times, the book was hilarious. The narration was a bit OTT at times but I can forgive that because the book was so funny. I’m glad I listened to it and will listen to it again after a couple of years (I don’t have great memory for books so I’ll forget them after a year or two, which is a bonus) :-))

I enjoyed this story very much

In the beginning, I was worried that it was just another story about a low self-esteem girl in an abusive relationship who thinks it's 'love", but hopefully she got herself out pretty soon. The plot is interesting, amusing, and exciting. It was such a pleasure to listen to this story.
P.S. Great narration!
