Summary

He had stepped from the sky to claim her like an enchanted prince from the pages of a fairy tale, but behind the mesmerizing beauty of his violet eyes she saw the driving hunger of the beast and an endless sorrow only she could heal.
Only for him would she embrace her frightening magic. Only for him would she find the courage to confront the shadows that haunted her soul. Only with him could she hope to defeat the terrifying evil that had pursued her all her life. No barrier could stand between truemates, not of the body, mind or soul. For ahead an epic battle was fast approaching, and only united could they hope to turn back the armies of darkness.

Great page turner

Would you consider the audio edition of Lady of Light and Shadows to be better than the print version?

Not read the print version but I suspect its better read than listened to as the performance only average

What other book might you compare Lady of Light and Shadows to, and why?

In some ways this series is similar to Kate Daniels books with a Herione gaining power and an impressive powerful alpha mate, with good action sequences - narration nowhere near as good though

Did Amy Cardy do a good job differentiating each of the characters? How?

Differentiation was OK with different voices for different characters that worked well, but like the previous book the editing was really quite poor and the general narration was a bit lacking it was all read in short bursts a bit like reading a shopping list. There were pauses where there shouldn't be and no pause where there should be

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

yes but not saying what as its a big spoiler

Any additional comments?

Need to read this after book 1 as it carries on a few minutes later with the story in mid arc

Badly narrated

This book was badly narrated, it's supposed to be a fantasy tale but had a very very southern American accent!

Awesome book

I loved this series ...the charcters are smart and funny with a deep sense of loyalty to each other ...This is one of those series you have to start wih the first book and go through the rest , you can't skip around or you will be lost ....I have the feeling the series was probably written as one big book since there are no real gaps between the books.each book you see the progression of the characters and their relationships ...Ellie and Rien have one of those stories you just fall in love with.
The narration is actually good and I normally don't like most of the female narrators. This book is well worth the money

Great Book, Good Narration

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I love the Fading Lands Series. Unfortunately many of the other books in this series are marred by less than stellar narrations by narrators with peculiar voice patterns - nasally twangs and lisps who trip over words or misspeak them and cant be bothered to go back and fix their mistakes.

However, Book 2 - Lady of Light and Shadows is happily free of these issues, so you can actually just sit back and become immersed in the story.

What other book might you compare Lady of Light and Shadows to and why?

I don't think there is quite anything else like this series out there. It's a bit of a romance, with quite a lot of fantasy adventure in a fairly complex world. It's much less formulaic then a lot of the other romance/fantasy writers out there, which is very nice, and as mentioned before has a far more sweeping canvass of a world for the characters to move through. I can't wait to see what C.L. Wilson does with the new book she is working on called THE WINTER KING, set in a world called Mystral, and after that it's back to the Fading Lands!

Which character – as performed by Amy Cardy – was your favorite?

This book was all about Ellysetta, and very well done.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, very much so.

Any additional comments?

I wish Amy Cardy had narrated all the books.
