Summary
From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of It Ends With Us comes a passionate tale of friendship, betrayal, and romance.
At twenty-two years old, Sydney is enjoying a great life: She’s in college, working a steady job, in love with her wonderful boyfriend, Hunter, and rooming with her best friend, Tori. But everything changes when she discovers that Hunter is cheating on her—and she’s forced to decide what her next move should be.
Soon, Sydney finds herself captivated by her mysterious and attractive neighbor, Ridge. She can't take her eyes off him or stop listening to the passionate way he plays his guitar every evening out on his balcony. And there’s something about Sydney that Ridge can’t ignore, either. They soon find themselves needing each other in more ways than one.

Young adult fiction and boring
If you’re above the age of 16, I’d give this is miss. Cringingly soppy and really quite boring. I struggled to finish it.

I had to force myself to finish this - whereas I love her other novels! Don’t waste a credit

A Guilty Pleasure
I loved the writing, the perspective of both lead characters and just the feeling of being on the edge of my seat. Another great book by a great author!

Love it
An entertaining story. I love the characters of Ridge, Sydney, and Maggie, but Warren is kind of creepy. Great audiobook.

Nice story
This is a really lovely story, well written and performed. However, I found the derogatory, ableist slurs really uncomfortable. There are many words that can be used to describe tachycardia without using those words. It comes across very brainless and is an ignorant juxtaposition against the intentionality of an otherwise inclusionary story. Disappointing, as I haven’t read or heard anything similar in any of Hoover’s other books so far.

The most disappointing dreary and atypically schmaltzy book by a new (to me) favourite author
Having binged on four Colleen Hoover’s after trying my first when it was on sale (Heart Bones) this was a departure in so far as it felt like a work by a less skilled writer.
The emotional deftness that I believe has made Hoover such a popular author, lacks, if not the poignancy, then certainly the sophistication and finesse of her other titles.
Other reviewers who have commented they found this more suited for teens may have a point, though this may do a disservice to teenagers who have just as much capacity to appreciate artful depictions of nuanced, layered, well-drawn characters and love stories.
Sentimentality is usually used to deride, yet I’m easily moved and drawn to what others may pejoratively label sentimental, but the drearily repetitive central love-dilemma became so tedious, with over three hours to go, it needed returning.
