In 1707, the HMS Association was lost with no survivors. Thirty years later, an admiralty clerk is tasked with a secret mission. And 200 years after that in 1996, a dive results in a fatal accident. Ten years later, an expatriate is called home to identify a woman he only vaguely recognizes. These seemingly disconnected events come together to form a trail of deceit, murder, and greed.

It is a really enjoyable book but utterly implausible in parts. I think you would be desperate for water having been kept underground for 4 days! To be romantically involved with a woman who had tried to kill another woman is pretty optimistic!
