Summary
Den 53-årige afroamerikanske newyorker Leonid McGill er en detektiv af den gamle skole. Forførende, brutal og ikke bly for at påtage sig lyssky opgaver for hurtige penge. Han er dog nået til et punkt i sit liv, hvor han forsøger at gøre op med sin småkriminelle fortid og komme på ret spor efter et helt liv i skyggen. Det viser sig at være vanskeligere end først antaget. Da han får til opgave at opspore fire unge mænd alene ud fra deres street names, stiller han ingen spørgsmål, men da deres lig efterfølgende begynder at dukke op et for et, ser han sig pludselig nødsaget til at tage stilling til en by, der ikke er, hvad den giver sig ud for at være.
