A Washington, DC, defense attorney, Stanton Shaw keeps his head cool, his questions sharp, and his arguments irrefutable. They don't call him the Jury Charmer for nothing - with his Southern drawl, disarming smile, and captivating green eyes, he's a hard man to say no to. Men want to be him, and women want to be thoroughly cross-examined by him.
Stanton's a man with a plan. And for a while life is going according to that plan.
Until the day he receives an invitation to the wedding of his high school sweetheart, the mother of his beloved 10-year-old daughter. Jenny is getting married - to someone who isn't him.
That's definitely not part of the plan.
Sofia Santos is a city-raised, no-nonsense litigator who plans to become the most revered criminal defense attorney in the country. She doesn't have time for relationships or distractions.
But when Stanton, her "friend with mind-blowing benefits", begs her for help, she finds herself out of her element, out of her depth, and obviously out of her mind. Because she agrees to go with him to The-Middle-of-Nowhere, Mississippi, to do all she can to help Stanton win back the woman he loves. Her head tells her she's crazy... and her heart says something else entirely.
What happens when you mix a one-stop-light town, two professional arguers, a homecoming queen, four big brothers, some Jimmy Dean sausage, and a gun-toting Nana?
The Bourbon flows, passions rise, and even the best-laid plans get overruled by the desires of the heart.

Fun, sexy and addictive!
What did you like most about Overruled?
Love this series, the story of Stanton and Sophia catches your interest straight away and the characters are endearing. How could Stanton not see what was right under his nose? so funny listening to his efforts to recapture is first love, I really love the way Emma Chase writes with lots of humour. I annoyed my husband because I couldn't put it away.
What did you like best about this story?
I love Stanton's character, the humour had me chuckling and although it is part of a series it could be read as a stand alone, however, if you can, listen to all of Emma Chase stories.
What does Jason Carpenter and Charlotte Penfield bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?
These narrators are exceptional, they bring the story to life. I have learnt that the narration can make or break an audible experience and these guys are amongst the best.

Couldn't even finish
The storyline was so ridiculous! I couldn't finish! I mean if you have a friends with benefits relationship that's one thing but what woman in her right mind would go with a man while he tries to convince his baby mama not to marry another man and continues to have sex with him! How little do you have to think of yourself. I wish I could get my money back!

Not worth the read
I wanted to like the protagonist Stanton Shaw, but in the end I just found him frustratingly dense. He has absolutely no emotional IQ. He is a spoiled stubborn self centered male. Sophia is likable but I yearned for her to stand up for herself.
By the end I found myself yelling at the characters. In all it was not worth the read.
