For identical twins, Kate and Violet are about as unlike as two peas from the same pod can be. Except for their 'Senses', a special kind of intuition that can allow them to see things that are yet to come.
When one day Violet ignites a media storm by predicting a major earthquake in the St Louis area where they live, Kate’s normal suburban family life is turned upside down.
"Thoroughly enjoyable. The plot is beautifully paced, the writing quick, clear, absorbing...A sweeping saga" (The Times)
"Such an accomplished work of fiction...inventive and original, American Wife is a thrilling combination of history and surprises" (Guardian)

To Sittenfeld's previous books "American Wife" and "Prep" which I loved. This isn't quite as brilliant as the other two, but I really enjoyed it nevertheless. The ending felt a little contrived to me, but that's just a small niggle.
I thought it was spot on.
It's a quiet story, but very absorbing. The portrayal of the relationship between the two sisters is utterly convincing. There were a few moments which made me laugh out loud.
