Summary

Growing up with four unruly brothers has made Freyja Bedwyn far bolder than most society ladies. From feisty manner to long, tumbling hair, Lady Freyja is pure fire - a woman who seeks both adventure and freedom.

Adventure soon finds her on a visit to Bath, when a handsome stranger bursts into Freyja's room and entreats her to hide him. His name is Joshua Moore, Marquess of Hallmere, a man with a hell-raising reputation of his own who is quickly intrigued by the independent beauty. So intrigued, in fact, that he makes her a surprising request: to pose as his fiancée and help thwart his family's matchmaking schemes.

For two people determined to be free, it's the perfect plan, until passion blindsides them both. For as Joshua sets out to achieve his complete seduction of Freyja, a woman who has sworn off love is in danger of losing the one thing she never expected to give again: her heart.

Funny - witty- and beautifully read!

A joy from start to finish !!!

I have to confess - I choose only those characters of the family who internet me :-)
For once each book is complete in itself!

One confrontational character and other laid back.

Again this is one of my favourite of the series, maybe because of the opposite it characters and how they come together. Freya had been brought up surrounded by strong minded males. To be recognised she had to compete as an equal, despite the restriction to women. The Hero is the opposite of everything she has been accustom to so provides a challenge. He recognised her fear of fail so manages to set the final challenge.
As usual the supporting characters hold their place in the story.

great story

Love love the feisty character of Freya so well done and Josh so witty.
I sometimes struggle with Rosalyn as a narrator but her style worked well with this book.
Lovely HEA

Beautifully complex and engaging

I loved everything about this story. The plot twists and turns, the characters evolve and never annoy. Perhaps the only character I’d like to have seen truly get her malicious come-uppance is the Marchioness, but otherwise masterfully written and performed.

Saccharin

Rosalyn Landor has a lovely, voice with a great range but manages to sound just too sweet. Where characters muse, she makes them sound pompous and pontificating. This book would be so much better with an edgier narrator.

I love this book the best in the series

I love Freyja's story the best out of all the 6 books. It is the most interesting of them all. I am glad I bought it and have listened to it three times already

This is the story with the most diverse reviews…

Mary Balogh is now a favourite. However, this tale is my least favourite thus far.

Freya is supposed to be this fiery, independent, intelligent, strong willed woman. Initially she comes across as just that. However, towards the end of the tale, she comes across as totally the opposite and I didn’t find anything in her character to admire, really. (Oh, except for her last interaction with Joshua’s aunt - priceless)!

I really enjoy the narration. Rosalyn Landor is doing a brilliant job!

Kept falling asleep

Struggled to finish, this. Unfortunately I started the series and the one character who intreges me is wolf which I find is last one.
