Publisher's Summary

Brady Stewart lives for the fire. Nightmares of a fire that changed everything haunt Nicole McMillan.
Whether fighting fires in the Kuwaiti desert, in the waters of the Gulf of Mexico, or the heartland of Oklahoma, both women hide behind a smoke screen, disguising who they really are and denying what matters most. When they meet in the midst of the challenge of their lives, their passion ignites. No matter how much they try to avoid the flames, where there's smoke, there's fire.

Sweet story, but

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Sound quality and narration. This sounded like it was a really cheap production with sometimes much hissing.
I don't know if the narrator babbled on too fast or if the technicians edited all "silence" out between sentences, but this could have been much better.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Brady - obviously

What didn’t you like about Kathleen Wilkins’s performance?

Hard to follow, took a lot of getting used to. Her voice is nice and she speaks clear, it may be that it's all due to bad sound/recording.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

It made me feel good, overall. It was a sweet story.

Any additional comments?

Audible should check the quality of the sound of this production. I really debated returning the book because of this.
